Privacy Policy
Effective November 7, 2026
1. Who we are
HighSchoolQ ("we", "us") is operated by High School Matrix, a study-help website for US high school students. You can reach us at support@highschoolq.com or by mail at 4260 Westbrook Dr, Ste 107, Aurora, IL 60504.
This policy covers the website today and the account and subscription features when they launch. Sections marked Accounts apply once accounts are available.
2. What we collect
Without an account
- On your device only: your reading options (theme, font, text size), flashcard progress, and best scores are saved in your browser’s local storage. We do not receive them. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.
- Standard website logs: our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as IP address and browser type to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.
- Visit counts: we may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused service that counts page views without cookies and without building profiles of individual visitors.
Accounts
- Email address, and a password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form) or a sign-in through a provider you choose.
- Your birth year or age range, so we can follow the rules for children.
- Your study activity: practice questions answered, time used, scores and progress.
- Subscription status. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Messages you send us, such as a support request or a content correction.
3. Children
HighSchoolQ is designed for students in grades 9 to 12. Some students are under 13. We follow the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):
- Students 13 and older may create their own account.
- Students under 13 may use accounts only through a parent or guardian, who gives permission and manages the profile.
- For a child under 13 we collect only a nickname and study progress. No email address, photo, voice, location, or free-text sharing.
- No advertising, no behavioral tracking, no public profiles, and no chat with other users.
- We use a child’s information only to run the learning features and keep their progress. We do not share it with anyone except the service providers that help us run the site, under contract.
A parent can at any time review the information we hold about their child, ask us to delete it, or refuse further collection, by emailing support@highschoolq.com. If we learn we collected information from a child under 13 without a parent’s permission, we delete it.
No biometric data. We do not collect fingerprints, face scans, voiceprints or similar biometric information from anyone.
4. How we use information
- To provide lessons, practice, progress tracking and subscriptions.
- To keep the site secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
- To answer your messages and send service emails such as receipts, renewal reminders and password resets.
- To understand, in aggregate, which lessons help students so we can improve them.
- We send marketing email only to adults who ask for it, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only with:
- Service providers who work for us under contract: Cloudflare (hosting and security), Stripe (payments), and an email delivery provider.
- Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect safety and rights.
- A successor, if the business is sold or merged. We would tell you first and the new owner would have to honor this policy.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
We use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. When accounts launch we will use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. Local storage holds your reading options and progress, as described above.
7. How long we keep it
Account information is kept while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your information within 30 days, except records we must keep for tax and legal reasons (for example, payment records for up to 7 years). Security logs are kept for a short period.
8. Your rights and choices
You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, download it, or delete it. If you live in California or another state with a privacy law, you have these rights by law, and we will honor them for everyone in the United States. We will not treat you differently for using them. Email support@highschoolq.com from the address on your account. We reply within 45 days, usually much sooner. We honor browser Global Privacy Control signals; since we do not sell or share information, there is nothing to switch off.
9. Security
We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords, minimal data collection, and limited access. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password. If a breach affects you, we will notify you as the law requires.
10. Where information is processed
HighSchoolQ is intended for use in the United States. Information may be processed and stored on servers in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and for material changes we will notify account holders by email. If a change affects how we handle a child’s information, we will ask the parent again before it applies.
